Brown Aluminum Oxide
Shot Peening and Blasting > Shot Peening and Blasting Media > Brown Aluminum Oxide
Aluminum Oxide is
one of the most economical processing medias for many dry and wet process
applications where anything from a coarse profile to a micro finish is
required.
This sharp and
angular abrasive is the second hardest mineral after diamond and is especially
suitable when no ferrous contamination can be tolerated on the processed
surface.
It can be used for
the roughest cutting-down operations or in well-conditioned, pebbled form for
producing very low micro-inch finishes on precision dimensioned parts. Its high
density and sharp, angular structure make it one of the fastest cutting
abrasives available.
Its crystalline
nature contributes to their hard and fast cutting properties. It is also
applied widely in bonded and coated abrasives manufacture.
Brown fused alumina
is made from high quality bauxite by fusing in an electric arc furnace at high
temperature. It has light brown color, good toughness and high hardness, also
can bear great pressure and has a good anti-crushing ability. It is suitable
for wet and dry blasting sand, lapping polishing and making bonded and coated
abrasive tools for super precision carbon steel, alloy steel, malleable iron,
hardened bronze and semi conduction materials. It can be also used to make
superior refractory products.
